I always find it very interesting when I learn something new about a community I have lived in for the last 12 years. While this doesn't seem like a long time, for anyone who lives in San Tan Valley or the surrounding areas, this is a HUGE deal!! San Tan Valley is only about 7 years old!! Now don't get me wrong is area has always had farms and farm homes, but as far as communities....ITS NEW!! Johnson Ranch has parts that were started in 1998 but there are only a handful of homes built before 2002.  Okay, let me even give a little more history about this, what we currently know as San Tan Valley, was Queen Creek. In 2009 they decided to add a zip code and born was San Tan Valley. While they tossed around using Bella Vista, and some other names, San Tan Valley is what stuck.  

OKAY, I am going to give a quick area overview. 

San Tan Valley is actually quite confusing.  San Tan Heights (which is in "San Tan Valley" has a Queen Creek address and zip code). Morning Sun Farms is the same! Skyline Ranch and Circle Cross Ranch have homes in BOTH Queen Creek and San Tan Valley zip codes! BUT all of the San Tan Valley area is in Pinal county where Queen Creek is in Maricopa county. 

We have 2 school districts. Florence Unified School District and Combs Unified School District. Combs Unified Schools are in the zipcode of 85140.  The two schools that are in San Tan Valley for the Florence District are Poston Butte High School, and San Tan Foothills (which was just acquired from Coolidge School District this year and is in San Tan Heights). San Tan Valley also offers several charter schools, such as, ALA, Eduprise, and Happy Valley to name a few. 

Okay, the REAL reason for this blog is because I really learned something new yesterday....SAN TAN VALLEY has lots for sale on a  Private SKI lake. Yep you read this right....A PRIVATE SKI LAKE. The OLDEST in the state of AZ, where they hold ski competitions a few times a year.  WHAT??? I have been here for 12 years AND I sell real estate here and I had NO IDEA this area even existed. ANYWAYS there are 9 lots around the lake, with 3 of them having homes on them and the other 6 available for sale to build a dream home on!
